People are Moving to The Ridge in Courtenay - and They Love Living There!
The Ridge welcomed its first residents eight years ago, and homeowners love living at The Ridge. When people first arrive at this subdivision, many are surprised at the overall beauty and peacefulness of the area.
The Ridge Neighbourhood
The scenery is truly beautiful, with ocean views over the Comox Marina, the surrounding Beaufort Mountain Range and of course, views of the iconic Comox Glacier. Bald eagles and swans fly overhead. Deer can be seen awndering near the pond.
Wide boulevards and sidewalks are an invitation to all residents to come and explore. These wide sidewalks and pathways make for a great place for biking and skateboarding and they are scooter-friendly. Take a tour around the area, or be adventurous and walk or ride your bike on the trail that leads directly to the Royston Seaside Trail or Millard Creek Park.
Quiet and Safe
There is no through traffic at The Ridge. When you drive into the community, you're coming home, not going through the area to somewhere else. For this reason, it is very quiet as there is only local traffic.
Parents of young families can relax, knowing their children can safely play at the large community park. This park has a very large grassed area and a play structure for younger children. This area is visible from many homes at The Ridge, making it easier to see your family members at a quick glance.
All street lighting in the subdivision are designed to “dark sky” standards, making star gazing a joy.
Popularity of The Ridge is Growing
More and more people are finding out about this jewel of a community. The residents are very friendly, making an effort to welcome newcomers to the neighbourhood. There is a sense of community amongst home owners, as everyone begins to know each other. Take a drive to The Ridge and look at the high quality construction of new homes that are being built by their preferred builders. Residents “Love Living at The Ridge.”

Holiday Lights Show Brightens Up the Season at The Ridge in Courtenay
Residents of The Ridge in Courtenay are eager to share why they love living at The Ridge. The sense of community is important in this new Courtenay neighbourhood, and this sense of community was very strong over the holiday season.
When winter nights were dark and gloomy at the end of a challenging year, residents of The Ridge did their best to brighten the spirits of their neighbours and light up the neighbourhood. Christmas lights and decorations were on full display throughout the community. Residents at The Ridge went above and beyond and created a festive Christmas atmosphere.
The first of what will become and annual Christmas decorating contest was born when a few residents banded together to acknowledge the neighbours who put extra effort into decorateing their homes for the holiday season. A few residents were surprised when they received acknowledgment of their efforts in the firstsurprise Christmas contest held at The Ridge.
The residents from these homes were surprised and happy to receive a small gift towards their efforts, as no official Christmas Lighting Contest had been declared. Now it is official! There will be annual lighting contests moving forward at The Ridge. It is an event that will bring out a friendly competition amongst the residents for years to come and promotes the community for everyone to enjoy.
Establishing this neighbourhood contest, inspired by the actions of others in their community, is one of the many reasons The Ridge is such a welcoming place to call home.

Outdoor Adventures Are Calling in the Comox Valley
Vancouver Island is well known for having some of the warmest and most temperate weather in Canada, making it a popular place to call home. Coastal communities such as Courtenay enjoy warm dry summers and mild winters sprinkled with rain and the occasional day or two of snow.
The Comox Valley, which includes the city of Courtenay, town of Comox, the village of Cumberland, and a number of unincorporated communities, is easily one of the most desirable places to live in Canada. This Vancouver Island coastal community offers easy access to a huge range of year-round outdoor recreational activities.
The weather is mild enough to go surfing and kite boarding year-round. In the winter months, when a storm rolls onto Vancouver Island, the biggest swells are active, prompting surfers and boarders to put on their wetsuits and head to the nearest beach.
If you are a diving enthusiast, explore the rocky reef at Flora Inlet on the edge of Hornby Island where you might spot the elusive Six-gill Shark between April and September. You can also take a dive at the Royston Wrecks, a man-made breakwater of sunken ships along the shoreline where water visibility is excellent. For a unique underwater adventure, snorkel with the salmon in local streams and rivers.
With the right outdoor gear, you can do pretty much any activity in the winter in the Comox Valley. For instance, the golf courses are open year round and you can play golf at seven public courses almost any day of the year. Many people have relocated to the Comox Valley because of their love for mountain biking. Here you will find hundreds of trails, from beginner to advanced in Cumberland, Mount Washington, Forbidden Plateau and other areas throughout the Valley. The region is a hotspot with many mountain bikers coming from other provinces and countries to compete!
Are you ready to make the move? New ocean and mountain view homes at The Ridge in Courtenay are now ready for you. New homes are selling quickly in Phase 3A, and more lots are now available for custom homes. Contact one of the preferred builders at The Ridge to learn more.

Spring has Sprung on Vancouver Island
Spring has sprung on Vancouver Island. Flowers have been out for months already and the cherry and plum blossoms are now lighting up the streets with their pink glow.
One of the primary reasons people relocate to Vancouver Island is because of the temperate, year-round climate - an added benefit of this is the area's long gardening season. Early signs of spring like crocuses and daffodils typically pop up in February with a rainbow of tulips close behind. These flowers start to appear in March and April along with the helleborus and camellias.
The streets look beautiful when the cherry and plum trees bloom, showing off their magnificent canopies in a variety of shades of pink.
Once April and May warm up, the colourful rhododendrons (which can grow to size of trees here!) and native dogwoods show off their spectacular blooms.

This Family Has So Many Reasons to Love Living at The Ridge
Residents of The Ridge in Courtenay have many reasons to "Love living at The Ridge."
One couple, Brianna and Jeremy, told 1stView about many of the benefits their family enjoys in their new home at The Ridge. They moved into their new custom home at The Ridge in March, 2019.
The couple said they looking for a safe and quiet neighbourhood for their family and their two young children. They bought a home built by one of The Ridge's preferred builders, Brando Construction.
“We were looking at quite a few homes in different locations and the first time we visited The Ridge we fell in love with it, because of the layout of the neighbourhood, the walking trails for our dog, and the amazing mountain and ocean views. We can even see the Mainland mountains from here! We immediately enjoyed a very welcoming feeling driving into The Ridge."
The family enjoys the easy access to outdoor activities, and have noticed their neighbours are also busy exploring the Comox Valley.
“We love being outdoors! Most of the places we like to go to - like Comox Lake and Cumberland - are only a 15 minute drive away. We often see like-minded neighbours getting ready to pursue their favorite outdoor activities on the weekends."
Additionally their new home is close to all of the day-to-day needs:
“The Ridge is also close to grocery stores, shopping and the airport is only 20 minutes away. I travel frequently for work and easy and quick access to the Comox Valley Airport is important," Brianna explained.
And the community has quickly become home for the entire family, thanks to friendly neighbours and community amenities.
“There is a relaxed atmosphere in the neighbourhood, and strong sense of community. Last night we went to the local park here, only a few minutes from our home and there were four other families at the park. The kids ran towards each other and played together and we had a visit with the neighbours. Even though we have only been here a few months, we all know each other’s names, the childrens’ names and we even know the dogs’ names! Our children feel very comfortable going to the park, and we know that they are safe in our neighbourhood. We visit the park daily and sometimes multiple times in the same day.
“Soccer, lacrosse and frisbee activities are frequently played in the park and it is also a great area to play with our dog. We often see celebrations being held in the park as well. We feel a great sense of community here.
“Life at The Ridge is very family-friendly, there is a nice mix of young families who interact with each other, retirees and other residents of all ages. There are very few vehicles on the roads - only neighbourhood traffic - and the roundabouts help calm the traffic.
“When I walk the dog, even early in the morning, I say ‘hi’ to at least 10 people. We have the best neighbours and we have quickly become friends."
Brianna & Jeremy, residents at THE RIDGE.
