Ocean, River and Lake Fishing Year Round in Courtenay on Vancouver Island

Fishing in the Comox ValleyIf you enjoy fishing and outdoor adventures, the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island is a great place to call home. Living at The Ridge in Courtenay gives you access to world-class fishing year-round in the surrounding ocean, lakes and rivers. The spring newsletter from Tyee Marine highlights plenty of great fishing spots in the Comox Valley.

The experts at Tyee Marine say now is the time to bring out the crab pots! Delicious Dungeness crab can be found off the point of Goose Spit in the shallows. Remember to bring a crab caliper to double check that the crabs you've caught are of legal size. Fisheries regulations state that all female crabs must be released.

Spring is also a great time to enjoy fishing the lakes, rivers and the ocean. When the remaining snow melts at the base of Mount Washington, it could be worth a trip to find Blue Grouse Lake. This is a small lake with expansive shallows, making it hard to cast from shore. Bring a float tube or small, lightweight boat. A small lake means smaller fish, but it also makes them easier to find.
